    In as little as 60 minutes Uprooted Chainsaw Performance Artist Marty Long can turn a three-foot-tall log into a detailed work of art using chainsaws only.  Onlookers will observe an original and captivating high-energy performance.  Nearly every show will result with a carving being produced from start to finish. Public are invited to participate in live auctions Wednesday, September 2nd and Monday, September 7th @ 4PM.

    U-Learn Farm has partnered with the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association to create a life-sized milk carton with an interactive screen to represent the amount of milk that the average cow produces in one year, and added a greenhouse, an Oyster Farming & Chesapeake Bay exhibit, and numerous other hands-on agricultural educational activities for children of all ages. The Maryland Agriculture Education Foundation Showcase Trailer will also be on site during the Fair.

    M&T Bank/Old Tyme Bread Baltimore Ravens 100-Ton Sand Sculpture Contest located in the Exhibition Hall.  Sandscapes will sculpt a 100-ton sculpture .  Fairgoers may enter to win the $2500 "Guess to Win Contest".

  • Swifty Swine Racing Pigs

    August 28 - September 7 @ 12:30 PM, 2:30PM, 4:30PM, 6:30PM & 8PM Free with paid admission to the Maryland State Fair. Located at the South end of the Midway closest to the Farm & Garden building.

    Fairgoers will go hog wild when pig stars compete in the Swifty Swine Racing & Swimming Pig Show. Billed as "America's cleanest and fastest pig races, " the Swifty Swine Show is fast paced and action packed!

  • Live Thoroughbred Horseracing

    The Maryland State Fair is home to a 5/8th mile oval track, which overlooks scenic York Road.  Live simulcast racing begins, Friday, August 28th through Sunday, August 30th and Friday, September 4th through Labor Day Monday, September 7th, 2015.  Post time is 1PM.

    Hightopps Grandstand Grille (located in the Racetrack Grandstands) will be Open from 11AM to 5PM during all racing days.

  • Miss Maryland Agriculture Contest

  • Milk It Yourself

    While milking cows has gone high tech for most dairy farm operations, traditional hand-milking is the mother of invention. Milk It will provide educational information about the progression of Maryland's dairy industry and milking. And, as a fundraiser for the MD Guernsey Assoc., for a small fee, interested fairgoers can try their hand at milking a cow.

  • ROMA Sausage Eating Contest

    The inaugural MY Maryland Mule Races will feature a variety of mules (hybrid of the horse and donkey) in a head-to-head elimination race around an oval loop on the fairgrounds racetrack. 

  • Bull Riding & Barrel Racing

    The cowboys will face the bulls, when professional bullriding returns for one night only! Just 25 professional International Bull Riders compete to ride some of the toughest bulls in the world of rodeo.  There will be Cowgirls Barrel Racing and more! See you there!

    The colorful and competitive sport of arm wrestling returns to the Maryland State Fair for the 8th consecutive year.  This premier event will feature people from all walks of life both men and women competing for local bragging rights.  Events feature standardized weight classes, streamlined equipment and national rankings for all competitors who win a match.  This special amateur competition, challenges strenghth, athletic ability and personal desire to prevail.

    The Maryland 4-H Fashion Revue will provide an opportunity to be inspired and in awe of the creativity and skill of Maryland 4-H youth as they refine their skills in design, construction and recycling garments with the hope of competing at the Maryland State Fair.  This year, approximately 50 young men and women from across the state will model outfits they have created, constructed or purchased using their consumer skills and fashion know how.
